RCB's left arm fast bowler Reece Topley ruled out of the IPL 2023 after sustaining shoulder injury.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) left-arm fast-bowler, Reece Topley has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of IPL, confirmed RCB head coach, Sanjay Bangar during the KKR vs RCB clash. Reece Topley who played the first game for RCB this season made his way back home for treatment. The news comes in after Sanjay Bangar confirmed the same during RCB's match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Previously, Rajat Patidar, their domestic Indian star batter was ruled out of the show owing to an injury.

While talking with the commentators from the dug-out, RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar said "Reece Topley has travelled back home and he has been ruled out of the tournament. We will be seeking for a replacement soon."

The Englishman made his IPL debut this season and in an unfortunate incident, he will not take part in IPL 2023 any longer. The pacer bowled only 2 overs in the game against Mumbai Indians in which he conceded 14 runs and took a wicket as well. The game was eventually won by RCB by 8 wickets, courtesy of a team effort.

Reece Topley was replaced by David Willey in the playing XI against Kolkata Knight Riders. David started off brilliantly in the first spell, taking two wickets and giving away only nine runs. As said by the Head Coach Sanjay Bangar, it remains to be seen who they will pick as the replacement for Reece Topley.

RCB look to assert dominance and make it two out of two wins

Faf du Plessis-led RCB made a great start to their IPL 2023 campaign with a thumping win against the 5-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI). The RCB bowlers were clinical up front and restricted the heavy batting unit of MI to a meager 171 runs. In response, Virat Kohli and Faf came out guns blazing and produced a partnership of 148 runs. The duo ensured that the MI bowlers did not get any chance and made it a one-sided affair in the end.

Riding on the confidence from that win, the Challengers took the field against Nitish Rana's KKR at Eden Gardens. Early back-to-back blows by David Willey left the home team chasing the game in the first innings. Rahmanullah Gurbaz made up for the loss suffered and fired a knock of 57 runs off just 44 balls. Followed by Karn Sharma'a back-to-back blows, RCB once again made inroads and put the KKR batters on the backfoot.
