Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans (RCB vs GT) are among the best sides in the Indian Premier League. RCB are one of the oldest teams in the IPL, having been a part of the league since its first edition in 2008. GT joined the IPL in the 2022 edition, when the tournament was expanded to 10 teams.
RCB reached the final in the 2009 edition under Anil Kumble’s captaincy. However, they finished as runners-up, losing the final to Deccan Chargers. Later, they emerged as one of the dominant teams under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
However, they failed to win finals three times, finishing as the runners-up in the 2009, 2011, and 2016 editions. They won their maiden tournament in IPL 2025 under Rajat Patidar’s captaincy.
Speaking about the Gujarat Titans, they have been consistent performers over the last few years. In their maiden edition in 2022, they grabbed the spotlight by winning the title under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. They also finished up as runners-up in the 2023 edition, losing the final to CSK in a close-fought thriller.
Shubman Gill was appointed the new captain after Pandya parted ways with GT after IPL 2023. They could not make a mark in the 2024 season but bounced back in the next two seasons, reaching the playoffs. Across five seasons, GT have reached the playoffs four times.
