The RCB vs SRH, match 1 of IPL 2026, will take place on March 28.
The Indian Premier League 2026 will kick off on March 28. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will lock horns in the opening game.
Defending champions RCB will be captained by Rajat Patidar in IPL 2026, who led the team to their maiden title in the previous edition. RCB have a strong batting unit with Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Jitesh Sharma, and Tim David.
However, they have suffered a blow in their bowling unit with the ouster of Yash Dayal and Nuwan Thushara. Moreover, Josh Hazlewood is also expected to miss the initial games despite joining the squad.
Speaking about SRH, they will be short of captain Pat Cummins in the first half as he recovers from a back injury. Ishan Kishan is set to lead the team at the start, with Abhishek Sharma as his deputy.
With the likes of Abhishek, Travis Head, Ishan, Liam Livingstone, and Heinrich Klaasen, SRH have a powerful set of batters. However, they lack experience in their bowling unit. Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat are crucial pacers in Cummins’ absence.
