Jasprit Bumrah is the second leading wicket-taker for India in the ongoing ENG vs IND series.
After a week-long break, Indian Cricket Team will lock horns with England Cricket Team in fourth game of the five-match series. The penultimate game of the series between the teams will begin on 23rd July at the Old Trafford, Manchester.
India are 1-2 down in the series, and the upcoming Manchester test becomes a do-or-die for them. The series is on the line, and the Shubman Gill-led side would be keen to give their best and even play the best possible XI to give themselves a chance to level the series.
With the fourth test of the series around the corner, India are mulling over the availability of Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler is slated to play just one more game in the series due to workload management. He has already played two games, and there are a lot of questions about his place for the next game.
3 reasons why Jasprit Bumrah should play the 4th test in Manchester against England

The Indian team management has openly mentioned that they will be taking a call on Jasprit Bumrah when the test arrives. But, looking at the current situation, the pacer should feature in the XI, and here we discuss three reasons why he is a must for the Manchester test
1. Series on the line
One of the major reasons why Jasprit Bumrah should play the Manchester test is the scoreline of the series. England are ahead, and they need just one win to clinch the series. For India, a loss would mean curtains in the series, and hence they shouldn’t afford to take the game lightly.
To win the game, India need their best XI, and without Jasprit Bumrah, it won’t be possible. The fast bowler, no doubt, is the best pacer in the series and has also been carrying the Indian bowling lineup for the last few years. He is the second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing ENG vs IND series with 12 scalps to his name in just two games.
2. Other Indian pacers struggling in the series
Another big reason why India should play Jasprit Bumrah in the Manchester test is because of the struggles of other bowlers. Although Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep have picked wickets, they haven’t been able to maintain the consistency and put pressure on England.
On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah has made life tough for England batters in the series. In just two games, he has picked two fifers, which speaks a lot about his impact. Also, the pressure that he builds allows the other bowlers to take wickets from the other end.
3. Enough rest before the Manchester test
The main reason why Jasprit Bumrah will be playing only three games in the series is because of his workload. During India’s tour of Australia last year, he played all five games and ended up getting injured. Therefore, he was advised by the doctors not to put his body under extra pressure.
But coming into the Manchester test, Jasprit Bumrah will have ample time to give rest to his body. The third game at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London ended on 14th July and the next game starts on 23rd July. This means that he will be getting more than a week’s rest, which could well be sufficient for him.
