Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has failed to hit a half-century in Tri-Nation A series.

India A played their fourth match of the Tri-Nation A series against Afghanistan A in the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on June 17. They lost their previous two fixtures, and this match was a do-or-die for the team.

However, they came up with a brilliant effort and won the game. India A managed to win the match against Afghanistan A by 101 runs, and reached the Final of the Tri-Nation A series to be played on June 21. The last league match of the series, between Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A will determine who will face India A in the final

Although, batters had a decent time, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was much talked about, yet again struggled to get going, scoring just 38 runs and that too after getting multiple lives. He has been underwhelming throughout the tour, and has failed to even hit a half-century.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, after his heroics in the IPL 2026, has also been selected in the squad for the T20I series against Ireland and England. However, with his poor performances, this could be a cause of concern for him as well as the management. As the A series is about to conclude, and Ireland series is around, we take a look at three reasons why he has failed to go big in this Tri-Nation A Series.

3 reasons why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi failed to go big in Tri-Nation A Series

3. Lack of strike rotation

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi often looks to go for the big shots, not playing as per the conditions. In the 50-over format, strike rotation is key to playing a long innings. If one keeps the scoreboard ticking with their strike rotation, it helps to build pressure on the fielding team, while also squeezing in their boundaries sometimes. Sooryavanshi has lacked at it so far.

2. Rushing through the innings

While he has been getting decent starts to his innings, the wonderkid has failed to play a long innings so far. As soon as he gets a few boundaries, Sooryavanshi plays his shots in haste. This leads to him becoming impatient and not capitalise on the start.

1. Poor shot selection

It has been evident how Sooryavanshi has been misjudging the deliveries to attack. It is costing him his wicket on the wrong deliveries. He has a visible problem against the short ball, because of which he is attack with a series of short balls as soon as he comes on strike. In today’s match, he was facing problems to strike against the off-spinner as well.
