List of records broken by Ishan Kishan after scoring double century in Duleep Trophy 2026 final

Ishan Kishan has strengthened his chances for a return to India’s red-ball side with his Duleep Trophy heroics.

The Duleep Trophy 2026 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai turned into a memorable occasion for Ishan Kishan. Leading the East Zone against the South Zone, the wicketkeeper-batter produced a remarkable batting performance.

He finished Day 1 with an unbeaten century and continued his assault on Day 2, reaching his maiden Duleep Trophy double century in the final. Kishan scored 250 runs off 301 balls and then retired hurt due to cramps.

However, that did not mark the end of his innings, as the double centurion returned to the crease and extended his record innings to 270 before being dismissed at the end of Day 2 play. He faced 334 balls, struck 30 fours and 7 sixes and scored runs at a strike rate of 80.83.  

His iconic innings helped East Zone mount a mammoth first-innings total of 708 runs and strengthen their position in the final. This historic innings has placed Kishan among several elite performers in Duleep Trophy history. 

Ishan Kishan’s tally of records after the Duleep Trophy double-century: 

First East Zone batter to score a double century in Duleep Trophy final 

Ishan Kishan became the first East Zone batter to score a double century in the Duleep Trophy final. Before this, the record for the highest score by an East Zone player in the Duleep Trophy final was held by Wriddhiman Saha, who scored 170 runs against Central Zone in the 2012 final.

Third East Zone batter to score a Duleep Trophy double-hundred

Kishan has joined the likes of Saba Karim and Arun Lal on the list of East Zone batsmen who have scored a double century in the Duleep Trophy.

Seventh batter to score a double century in a Duleep Trophy final 

Kishan joined an elite group of batters who have reached the 200-run mark in a Duleep Trophy final. His list includes Raman Lamba, Gagan Khoda, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Anshuman Gaekwad, Yusuf Pathan, Cheteshwar Pujara and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Kishan is the newest addition to the tally. 

Highest ever score by a captain in a Duleep Trophy final 

Kishan did not stop after reaching his double hundred. He surpassed the long-standing record held by Indian legend Anshuman Gaekwad for the most runs scored by a captain in the Duleep Trophy final.

Gaekwad had managed 216 runs back in 1987, a record that was finally broken after 39 years by the East Zone captain. 

Second-highest score in a Duleep Trophy final 

Having surpassed even Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan is now the second-highest scorer in the Duleep Trophy finals. He amassed 270 runs, only behind Raman Lamba’s 320, which came playing for North Zone in the 1987 final. 

Highest score by a wicket-keeper batter in a Duleep Trophy final 

Kishan broke the record held by former South Zone wicket-keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who had scored 183 runs during the 2010 Duleep Trophy final against West Zone.

That remained the highest score by a designated wicket-keeper-batter in a Duleep Trophy final until Kishan surpassed it with his historic innings.
