Injured Reece Topley still confident about making it big in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Reece Topley's persistent injury problem has put him away from cricket once again.
England’s Left-arm pacer Reece Topley dislocated his shoulder in the first game of the IPL 2023. Topley while attempting a catch against Mumbai Indians, got an injury and was ruled out from the entire season. Reece Topley has suffered multiple injury problems in his career in recent times. Topley missed out on England's 2022 World T20 winning squad as well due to an ankle problem. Despite the challenges he is facing, he is still confident about playing an important role in England’s bowling line-up in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. England are the current World Champions in both T20s and ODIs.
'I will make it count when I get the opportunity'
29-year-old Reece Topley had an on-and-off cricket career since he made his debut. Topley after making his debut in 2015 has played 22 ODIs and 22 T20s for England. Reece Topley is confident about his important role in the World Cup squad, Topley said, “There’s a lot of cricket coming up and obviously an ODI World Cup and I missed the T20 World Cup. I was going really well and was probably going to play in that T20 World Cup. I missed it, all I can say is hopefully I get my opportunity and I am definitely going to make that opportunity count when it comes”. Reece Topley had a brilliant start of the year with a decent SA20 tournament with Durban Super Giants.
England won the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022, Reece Topley missed out on the action due to an ankle injury. Topley was disappointed that he was not part of the World T20 winning squad. He said, “If I was not injured, I think I would have been involved with that, similarly with this World Cup just gone, if I was not injured I think I would have been, not just a part of it I think I would have played a lot”. Topley has played 22 ODIs and picked up 33 wickets. In T20s, Topley played 22 games and picked up 22 wickets. ICC Cricket World Cup is likely to start from 5th October, 2023. 12 Indian cities will host 48 matches for the 10 participants.
