The India vs Pakistan match in New York got delayed due to rain.

The India vs Pakistan cricket rivalry resumed on Sunday in New York as the two teams collided for their Group A encounter in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The game got underway at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team entered this match after thrashing Ireland by eight wickets in their first group fixture at the same venue on June 5. On the other hand, Babar Azam’s Pakistan lost their first fixture against co-hosts the United States of America by five runs in a thrilling clash in Dallas on June 6.

The clash was scheduled to start at 10:30 AM local time (8 PM IST), with the toss taking place at 10:00 AM local time. However, the toss was delayed due to the drizzle in New York, which kept fans waiting. The toss happened at 10:30 AM local, with the match scheduled to kick-start at 11:00 AM.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first, which was an expected decision considering the overcast conditions. However, just after the toss, rain once again arrived, which made fans wonder if the ICC had planned a reserve day for this much-awaited encounter.

Is there any reserve day for the India vs Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2024?

No, officially there is no reserve day in place for all of the group stage and Super 8 round of matches. Only the first semi-final and the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 have reserve days.

This means that if rain washes out the India-Pakistan group stage match in New York, then both sides will share one point each.

Playing XI of both teams:

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh
