RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was awarded Player of the Match for his century despite losing the game against MI
Tim David has written history for Mumbai Indians with his cameo against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium. For the first time in the Indian Premier League history, a team has chased down more than 200 runs at Wankhede. Tim David with an insane cameo of 45 runs in 14 balls was enough to power Mumbai Indians with two important points. Along with Tim David, Suryakuamar Yadav (55) and Cameron Green (44) played a key role in Mumbai’s 213 runs chase. Batting first, Yashasvi Jaiswal with his blistering century helped Rajasthan put 212 on the board. It was a lone effort from Jaiswal to give MI a huge target. Jaiswal scored 124 runs in 62 balls.
Sanju Samson happy with the way RR are heading forward
Despite the loss, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson is taking out positives from the game and had praised RR’s effort in the IPL 2023 so far. He said, “The way we have been playing, with the last 9 games ending with us winning or coming close, this illustrates the high standards at which we have been playing”. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 16 fours and 8 sixes in his century, Sanju was in full praise of the young man Yashasvi Jaiswal. Sanju said, “I was expecting something special from Jaiswal. He scored 70 odd in the last game as well, we always thought the century was around the corner”. Jaiswal lacked support for a big partnership during his inning.
Rohit Sharma all praise of young Yashasvi Jaiswal
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma had a special birthday as Tim David smashed 3 consecutive sixes to Jason Holder in the last over to give him 2 points. Rohit looked happy with MI’s performance. He said, “Very pleasing to see how we chased this. Last game here also we came close to a similar target, we have the ability and we just need to back ourselves”. Captain Rohit was also in awe of the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rohit said, “I watched him last year, this year he has taken his game to a new level. I asked him where all that power is coming from. He says he spends time in the gym. He is timing them really well, good for him, good for Indian Cricket and RR”.
Yashasvi makes a bold statement after his century
Despite RR losing the match, their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was awarded Player of the Match for his 124 runs inning. Jaiswal was hitting all around the park and was able to clear boundaries with ease. He smashed 16 fours and 8 sixes in his inning. Talking about his performance he said, “I thanked God for this opportunity, I always had this dream. I Want to work on the process and work hard and I know results will follow. I am keeping myself mentally strong and also working on my fitness and my diet”. Jaiswal in the last 4 games had brilliant runs with the bat. He is now leading the orange cap race with 428 runs in 9 innings.
