Richa Ghosh was part of India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 winning squad.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a huge reward for India Women’s cricketer Richa Ghosh. Ghosh, who is the first Bengali to win an ICC Cricket Women’s Cricket World Cup, will have a cricket stadium in her hometown named after her.

This comes after Richa Ghosh played a huge role in India’s title-winning ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 campaign, defeating South Africa in the final on November 2 in Navi Mumbai. The wicket-keeper batter has now received recognition around the state for his vital role for Team India.

Richa’s exceptional performance in the tournament earned her recognition from the West Bengal government and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

On November 8, 2025, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally delivered the employment letter to her at the felicitation function held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. She was appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in West Bengal.

The Bengal government would construct a new stadium named after Richa Ghosh, according to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

During a news conference, the CM confirmed the announcement while speaking from Uttarkanya. The stadium will be constructed in Siliguri, the largest city in North Bengal and Richa’s hometown.

In recognition of her 34-run knock against South Africa in the World Cup final, Richa earned a cash incentive of Rs 34 lakh from CAB, a gold necklace as a present from the Chief Minister, and the esteemed Banga Bhushan award from the state government. In recognition of her efforts during the competition, CAB also gave her a golden bat and ball.

Richa Ghosh, who scored 235 runs in eight games at an average of 39.16 and a strike rate of 133.52 in the World Cup, was a key player in India’s winning effort.
