Will Rinku Singh make his ODI debut against South Africa? Captain KL Rahul reveals

Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 68 runs against South Africa at St. George’s Park in the 2nd T20I.
Rinku Singh has come out as one of the heroes in Indian cricket and has become a new-age superstar. Left-hander Rinku has taken responsibility for the Indian lower middle-order. He has been playing the role of a crisis manager as well as a finisher in the T20I format and impressed everyone with his splendid performance. Rinku Singh’s average of 65 in the shortest format is testimony to what he has achieved in his short career with the Indian cricket team.
He also has been included in the 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. After a magnificent performance, there are massive chances of making his ODI debut as well. Indian skipper KL Rahul has given a big hint on Rinku Singh’s ODI debut. As India will be playing the first ODI against South Africa at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, they will aim at building a squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 in the African continent.

Indian skipper KL Rahul believes that this series will be a perfect chance for youngsters to cement their place in the team. Rahul said, “What has been good to see is the temperament and game awareness that he (Rinku) has shown in the T20I series. He has shown how good a player he has been. We have seen calmness. That has been very refreshing for me to see as well on the television… He will get his opportunity even in the ODI series.”
Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 68 runs in 39 balls against South Africa in the second T20I game played at St. George’s Park Gqeberha. Rinku’s innings was crucial for India, which helped the team to reach a respectable total of 180. Rinku also played a few magnificent innings against Australia in the five-match T20I series. Rinku scored 105 runs in 4 innings against Australia and got dismissed only twice in the series. Rinku’s T20I average stands at 65.50 and a strike rate of 180.68 in just 8 innings.
There were talks of KL Rahul taking up the role as wicket-keeper and the middle-order batter in the upcoming ODI series. Reacting to which, KL Rahul said, “I will be doing wicket-keeping & batting in the middle order in this ODI series. I am happy to take any role in the Test series that the captain, the coach, and the management wants. Of course, even in T20, I want to play for my country.” KL Rahul has been a prolific scorer for India batting at number 5 in ODIs.
