Rishabh Pant scored 312 runs in IPL 2026.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) observed another poor season under Rishabh Pant‘s captaincy in the Indian Premier League 2026. They were the worst performers in the league and finished at the bottom of the points table.

LSG won only 4 and lost 10 out of 14 games in the league stage. Moreover, they remained in the bottom positions since the start of the tournament. They failed to reach the playoffs for a second time in a row.

The LSG skipper flopped with both his batting and captaincy in the IPL 2026. Despite changing his batting positions multiple times, he could not regain his form. Mitchell Marsh was the only stand-out batter for the side with 563 runs, while other key batsmen flopped with their performances.

Notably, Pant has relinquished the captaincy of Lucknow Super Giants with immediate effect after the team’s disastrous performance in IPL 2026. LSG franchise announced this news in an official statement on Friday, May 29.

LSG stated that Pant voluntarily requested them to be relieved of the captaincy, and the franchise accepted his decision.

“Rishabh approached the franchisee with this request and we have respectively accepted it. These decisions are never easy. We are grateful for everything Rishabh has brought to his dressing room as captain. Our focus now is on the collective- rebuilding and restructuring to reach the best standards,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Pant could only score 314 runs in 13 innings at an average of 28.36 and a strike rate of 138.05. He scored a half-century at the start but later got out cheaply on numerous occasions. Moreover, his tactical decisions as captain also failed, leading to LSG suffering several defeats at home.
