Rishabh Pant to play in IPL 2024, confirms Delhi Capitals' team director Sourav Ganguly

Rishabh Pant has been out of action since his car accident in December 2022.
Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has missed the cricketing action since December 2022 due to a massive car accident he suffered in Roorkee. Rishabh Pant has been undergoing recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) taking a bit of a break in between and looking for an early comeback. Pant suffered several injuries and had to be airlifted to Mumbai after getting first-aid treatment in Uttarakhand.
Delhi Capitals team director Sourav Ganguly has provided great news and said that Pant is expected to partake in the IPL 2024. Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has joined a team camp happening at Jadavpur University in Kolkata. Pant’s recovery has been magnificent after the treatment and he is now working on attaining full match fitness before the next IPL season starts. Rishabh Pant took 40 days to stand on his feet after the accident.
Rishabh Pant will play in the IPL 2024
Delhi Capitals team director Sourav Ganguly revealed that Pant’s recovery looks positive and Delhi might be boosted by Pant’s presence. While addressing the media, Sourav Ganguly said, “He is good now, he will play in the next IPL season… Rishabh will not be practicing here though. There’s still time for him to get down to practice by January 2024, he will get even better.” Pant needed 10-12 months to recover from the kind of injuries he sustained.
In Rishabh Pant’s absence, David Warner was chosen as a leader in the IPL 2023. Sourav Ganguly has now made it clear that Rishabh Pant will be leading the team in next season. Ganguly added, “We were talking about the team. He is the captain, so he put in his views regarding the upcoming auction. That’s the reason he has come here, to finalise certain aspects of the team.” IPL Mini-auction is scheduled to be held on 19th December in Dubai.
Delhi Capital had a dismal IPL 2023 season and they finished 9th place in the table with only 5 wins out of their 14 league games. It is also expected that Sourav Ganguly will be promoted as head coach of the team replacing former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting. Rishabh Pant suffered a massive car crash when he was travelling to his home in Roorkee from Delhi to celebrate the new year with his family. Pant has not played any game after that.
