Rishabh Pant got retired hurt during first innings of the Manchester test.

Indian Cricket Team wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant achieved a rare feat during the ongoing fourth test against the England Cricket Team at Old Trafford, Manchester. Pant scored 37 runs in the first innings before getting retired hurt.

During third session of day one of the Manchester test, Chris Woakes’ delivery hit Pant on his shoes as he tried a play a reverse sweep. The keeper-batter was then spotted with a cut and swelling on his foot and wasn’t able to walk. As a result, he was retired hurt and was taken off the field on medical buggies for additional treatment.

Earlier in the game, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first. Indian openers KL Rahul (46) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) gave a good start, etching an opening stand of 94 runs.

In first innings of the Manchester test, Pant become the first wicket-keeper batter from a visiting team to score 1000 runs in test cricket in England. The left-handed batsman has mustered 1018* runs in 24 innings in England at an average of 44.26. He has hammered four centuries and four half-centuries, including a top knock of 146 runs in English conditions.

Meanwhile, Pant has shown a brilliant form in the ongoing test series against England. With 462* runs in seven innings at an average of 66.0, the Indian test vice-captain is the second highest run-scorer in the series. He has smacked two centuries and two half-centuries.

Meanwhile, India are having a decent outing with the bat despite losing wickets in second session on day one of the Manchester test.. After a solid start from openers, Sai Sudharsan (61) slammed a solid half-century, taking team past 250 runs. For England, skipper Ben Stokes has been pick of bowlers on day one.
