RR need RCB, KKR and MI to lose their last league matches to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs.

On Friday, May 19 in Dharamsala, Rajasthan Royals (RR) overcame Punjab Kings by four wickets to maintain their playoff hopes for the IPL 2023. Devdutt Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal, two young batsmen, each scored an incredible half-century as the Royals successfully chased down a challenging 188 mark with two balls remaining.

Punjab Kings were asked to bat first by RR captain Sanju Samson who had won the toss.

Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma rescued the innings with a 64-run stand for the fifth wicket when Shikhar Dhawan and Co. were reeling at 50 for 4 at the time. Later, Shahrukh Khan gave the team the late boost they needed to reach 187 for 5 with an unbeaten 41 off 23 balls.

In response, RR needed to finish the chase in 18.3 overs to surpass Royal Challengers Bangalore's net run rate, but they were unable to do so.

“GT and SRH please help us out a little now,” Riyan Parag tweets asking them to defeat MI and RCB

Thanks to the win over PBKS, RR earned two points and remain in contention for playoffs. On Sunday, they would like Mumbai Indians and Bangalore to lose their final league games to Hyderabad and Gujarat respectively.

Young all-rounder Riyan Parag has asked Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad specifically to help RR in making the playoffs.

“GT and SRH please help us out a little now,” Riyan tweeted after RR’s win over PBKS.

Riyan sought help from GT and SRH as they will lock horns with RCB and MI, respectively, in their last league matches.

Gujarat has already qualified, and RCB's net run rate will suffer if they lose to them. The current NRR for RCB is 0.180, and if they lose by more than 6 runs or with 5 balls remaining, RR will move up to the fourth position. If they lose to the Sunrisers, RCB and Mumbai will both be eliminated.

If RCB and MI both win on Sunday, RR will be the first one eliminated, and the outcomes of the formers will depend on whose team has a higher NRR.
