BCCI president Roger Binny turned 70 years old on July 19, 2025.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny turned 70 years old on July 19, 2025. As Binny has turned 70, his future as the BCCI president is in doubt. According to the BCCI constitution, any office bearer who turns 70 is disqualified from holding any post.

Binny was elected as the BCCI president in October 2022. He succeeded Sourav Ganguly, who held the post from 2019 to 2022. As Binny has turned 70 years old, vice-president Rajeev Shukla is expected to be the interim successor.

However, since the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for September, sources said that Binny can continue in the role until then without signing any documents.

Sports Governance Bill to work in favour of BCCI president Roger Binny

The Sports Governance Bill, which is set to be introduced in the Parliament of India during the ongoing Monsoon session, has added more confusion to Binny’s case. The bill is expected to be introduced by Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, which seeks to increase the age limit of office-bearers of all national sports federations from 70 to 75. Moreover, the bill is said to ‘override the constitution of all national sports federations.’

According to a report in PTI, Binny will discuss the matter with current BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. Meanwhile, the BCCI officials are yet to comment on the matter. Top BCCI officials are returning after the ICC’s annual general meeting in Singapore.
