Rohit Sharma has won 5 IPL titles for Mumbai Indian since he became captain.

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is celebrating their favorite son Rohit Sharma’s birthday on Sunday night. Mumbai Indians are taking on Rajasthan Royals. Along with his birthday, Rohit Sharma is also celebrating a milestone in his captaincy. Rohit has completed 150 IPL games as a captain. He has become only the second player to touch this milestone in the Indian Premier League. Along with him, MS Dhoni is leading this list with 219 games as a captain for Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Super Giants.

Rohit Sharma became the Mumbai Indians captain in 2013 when Ricky Ponting left the leadership in mid-season and MI management decided to go with young Rohit Sharma as their new captain. He is one of the most successful leaders in the Indian Premier League along with MS Dhoni. Rohit in 150 (Sunday RR game included) games as a captain had won 81 games and lost 64. He has won the IPL title for the most number of times in the history. Rohit has 5 titles as a captain for MI and one as a player with Deccan Chargers.

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is also among the most successful leaders in the league. Dhoni has won 4 IPL titles with Chennai, which is the second most successful in numbers. Dhoni had led two IPL teams in his career. Dhoni is leading Chennai since its inception and he was also captain of Pune when CSK was banned for two years. Dhoni has captained 219 IPL games and won 128 games. This is the highest number of wins for any captain in the Indian Premier League.

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli and former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir are the other two names who have led their respective teams more than 100 times. Virat Kohli has captained RCB in 143 games, while Gambhir has captained KKR in 126 games. Gautam Gambhir won the IPL title twice with KKR.
