IPL 2023: Rohit Sharma becomes 2nd Indian batsman to score more than 11,000 T20 runs

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was at his best during a 201-run chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma smashed 56 runs against Hyderabad at Wankhede to power MI chase with Cameron Green. Rohit with this innings has also touched a few milestones in his career. Rohit has become only the second Indian batter to complete 11,000 runs in a T20 career. He has also become the first Mumbai Indian batter to complete 5000 runs. He is the leading run-scorer for the franchise. Rohit scored more than 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League. He has also played for Deccan Chargers in the first three seasons. 

Rohit Sharma completes 11,000 T20 runs

In the 10th over of the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma launched a strike over Umran Malik's head for a four to reach his career milestone of 11,000 runs. He is the second Indian leading run-scorer in T20 cricket along with Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli has scored 11864 runs in 356 innings, Virat has scored 7 centuries and 91 half-centuries, while Rohit has smashed 6 centuries and 73 fifties. There’s a race between Virat and Rohit in international T20s as well. Rohit has scored 3853 runs, while Virat has scored 4008 runs. Rohit is also the leading run-scorer for Mumbai Indians. Rohit has batted for MI in 192 innings and scored 5022 runs for MI.

Mumbai Indians have once again chased down a 200-plus total in the IPL 2023. Along with Rohit, MI’s new entry this season Cameron Green played a blistering knock. Green smashed 100 runs in 47 balls. He completed his 50 in just 20 balls. Mumbai with this win have also put one foot in the playoffs. If RCB fail to win against Gujarat Titans, MI will be through. There’s a rain delay in Bangalore, in case of a washout also Mumbai will qualify as the 4th team.
