Rohit Sharma went past former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid in an elite list.
India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma gave his side another brisk start in the ongoing second ODI against Sri Lanka. The two teams met on August 4 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where Rohit went above former head coach Rahul Dravid in the tally of an important record.
The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie. Rohit had top-scored for India with 58 runs off 47 balls. Since last year, Sharma has been playing an aggressive brand of game in white-ball cricket.
Rohit Sharma has now scored more ODI runs than Rahul Dravid
In the ongoing second ODI between Sri Lanka and India, the Indian captain and opener Rohit went past Dravid on the list of most runs for India in ODI cricket. After scoring his second run in the second ODI against Sri Lanka, Rohit surpassed Dravid’s haul of 10768 ODI runs for India.
Sharma is now the fourth-highest run-scorer for India in ODIs. Only Sachin Tendulkar (18426), Virat Kohli (13872) and Sourav Ganguly (11221) have scored more ODI runs for India than Rohit.
At the time of writing, Rohit has aggregated 10790* ODI runs for India. He’s cracked 31 centuries and 56 fifties so far in his career. Three of those centuries were double hundreds.
Speaking about the 2nd SL vs IND ODI, India restricted the hosts to 240/9, which, as proven in the first ODI, is a competitive total. India would be wary of Sri Lanka’s spin attack.
