Rohit Sharma missed winning the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy in 2023.
Indian Cricket Team batter Rohit Sharma, who faced a massive heartbreak in the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, was present in the stands when the Indian Women’s cricket team lifted ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The joy, excitement and a touch of emotion were there for Rohit as the trophy finally came home for the Women in Blue.
Rohit Sharma, whose only wish now remains to win the ICC Cricket World Cup, gave it his all in the 2023 edition. However, god wasn’t kind to him as India lost to Australia in the final despite him changing the culture of the Indian side and more importantly, leading from the front.
From getting dropped in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 to making huge impacts in the 2015, 2019 and 2023 editions, Rohit has activated his beast mode in the 50-over World Cups. But one thing that is still missing in his CV, is the trophy for which he is desperate for.
And for that, he has quit his favourite food, lost weight and is still going strong at 38, an age at which many retire. The passion to win and feel that trophy for Rohit was visible as he made his presence felt at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, where the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final took place.

India, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, ended the title drought, winning the Women’s Cricket World Cup for the very first time. They defeated South Africa by 52 runs and things got out of control when captain Harmanpreet took the catch of Nadine de Klerk, which sealed the game for India.

The video of the former Indian skipper getting emotional was all over social media with fans expressing their wish to see him at the 2027 World Cup.

Coming to the Indian women’s side, they had a great campaign in the tournament. They started on a high, winning their first two games but the setback came immediately after that as they lost three games on trot after. Then things changed for them as they even beat mighty Australia in the semi-final, where they registered the record for the highest successful run-chase in WODIs.
