"I tried to convince him.." Rohit Sharma becomes emotional while talking about outgoing coach Rahul Dravid

Indian captain Rohit Sharma got emotional while he shared his views on outgoing Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, who will step down as Men in Blue’s head coach after the conclusion of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Earlier, many reports were spread regarding legendary cricketer Dravid not being willing to reapply for the head coach job ever since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited applications for the head coach job.

Dravid confirmed the same on Monday, June 3, that he will be stepping down from the head coach post after the 2024 T20 World Cup. The new head coach job will be a three-year-all-format contract that will run till the end ICC ODI World Cup 2027.

India are all set to take on Paul Stirling-led Ireland at the Nassau Cricket Stadium in New York on June 5. Ahead of India’s opener at the T20 World Cup 2024 against the Irish side, skipper Rohit addressed the press, where he got emotional while explaining about his relationship with the Dravid.

“He (Dravid) was my first International captain, he is a huge role model, and he did a lot for the team over the years – I have personally tried to convince him to continue as a coach – I will not be able to see him go,” Rohit Sharma said.
