Rohit Sharma made his comeback in Indian team in T20I cricket after a gap of 14 months.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma made his comeback in T20I cricket in the first T20I game against Afghanistan. It was not a memorable day for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as he was runout on duck. Rohit Sharma will be looking to turn everything around at Holkar Stadium in Indore in the second T20I.

Rohit Sharma is playing his 150th T20I game for India. He became the first ever cricketer to touch this mark in international cricket. Rohit Sharma stayed away for 14 months in T20I cricket and missed 25 T20I games for India in this period. Rohit and Virat Kohli were away from this format of the game after India’s semi-final defeat against England in T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking game

Rohit is the first cricketer to play and complete 150 T20I matches and Ireland’s opener Paul Stirling is second on the list with 134 T20I games. Virat Kohli is second for India in the most number of T20I matches played. Virat is playing his 116th T20I game on Sunday. Virat Kohli was also away for 14 months along with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in T20Is after the semi-final loss against England.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made his T20I debut against England in the T20 World Cup 2007 in South Africa. Rohit made an early impact in this format of the game and has played decent knocks in the tournament. Rohit has scored 3853 runs at an average of 31.07, his T20I strike rate is 139.14 so far. He is also the second leading run-scorer in the T20I format after Virat Kohli.

The 36-year-old opening batter has also been one of the most successful captain in T20I cricket. Rohit Sharma has led India in 52 matches. India won 40 games out of the 52 matches in which Rohit was the captain. India lost only 12 games under his leadership. Team India will be looking to win the second T20I game in Indore and look to seal the three-match T20I series.
