The Indian Cricket Team senior batter Rohit Sharma has made himself available for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Tropy 2026-27, as per the reports in Indian Express. The opening batter has told the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will be available for Mumbai in December.
The reports claimed that Rohit Sharma will join Mumbai side for the tournament after the India’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home, from December 13 to 19. This comes as a huge development and drops a massive message that he is eager to play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
Speaking to Indian Express, the MCA source stated:
“He has informed us that he will be playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and to consider him available after India’s three-ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. How many matches he will be available for, he will inform us later,” an MCA source said.

The league stage of Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played between December 14 and 29 with knockouts staged between January 2 to 8. India’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka ends on December 19., which means Rohit will be available for the second half of the league stage.
He is also likely to miss knockouts as India wil be hosting Zimbabwe for a three-match series, starting January 3. The batter is expected to be part of the squad, and playing in the domestic tournament would help him get more game time and prepare for upcoming assignments.
This, however, will be for the second straight season that Rohit will be playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Indian opener played two games for Mumbai in Jaipur, his first in the tournament since 2018. He made 155 off 94 balls against Sikkim and bagged a golden duck against Uttarakhand.
His presence will also be a big boost for Mumbai, who already are expected to name a squad filled with superstars. Rohit would be keen to make a mark in domestic tournament, and help his team win.
