Rohit Sharma scored a fifty in the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide.

Indian Cricket Team opener Rohit Sharma achieved a massive feat against the Australian Cricket Team in ODI cricket. The batter scripted history in the second ODI of the three-match series between teams, which is underway at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Thursday, October 23.

The Shubman Gill & Co. are aiming for a comeback in the clash after losing the opening game at the Optus Stadium in Perth by seven wickets. The start of the game didn’t go in their favour as Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first. While Australia made two changes to their playing XI, India went ahead with the same team.

India had a poor start with the bat as Australian bowlers were all over the Indian batters. The top three in Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli struggled as the hosts took two early wickets. Rohit managed to stay somehow but made sure that he cashed on the start that he had as he hammered a few boundaries in that phase as well to take the pressure off.

While he was struggling initially, he achieved a massive feat after he scored just two runs in the Adelaide game. Rohit became the first Indian batsman to reach the mark of 1000 runs in ODIs against Australia in Australia. He reached the milestone in his 21st match and owns a wonderful record against the Men in Yellow Down Under.

At a stunning batting average of over 56, the 38-year-old has also hammered four centuries and three half-centuries against Australia, including a top knock of unbeaten 171 runs. The next Indian batters with the most runs against Australia on Australian soil are Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Shikhar Dhawan.

Overall, Rohit is the fifth batsman to reach the feat. West Indies legend Richards holds the record for most ODI runs against Australia in Australia with 1095 runs, while Rohit now grabs the fourth spot in the list.
