"Has been disappointing"- Rohit Sharma on India's "ICC trophy" drought in last decade

Rohit Sharma will lead India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at home.
Finally, the wait is over, and the most-awaited tournament of the year is all set to start in just 24 hours. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will kick off on Thursday, when England and New Zealand will take on each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It will start the cricket carnival in India, with the top ten teams competing in the tournament.
Team India will start their campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai. India won it the last time when they hosted the World Cup in 2011. It was captain MS Dhoni who led the team to glory. So can Rohit Sharma repeat that feat and take India to their third world title? Well, the Indian captain also reckons that India are one of the top teams and are expected to win such a major tournament.
"We are expected to win major trophies"- Rohit Sharma ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
Team India haven't won any major ICC titles in over a decade. They won the last ICC title in 2013, when MS Dhoni led the team to the Champions Trophy in England. But since then, they have played a number of knockout games but haven't had their hands on the title. That's what Rohit Sharma admitted. In an interview with Indian Express, Rohit said that it takes time for teams, and England, who didn't win anything, started winning it since 2019.
The Indian captain also said that apart from Australia, there is no other team that is consistent at the ICC tournaments. Rohit Sharma said, “Every year there is an ICC trophy now. If you don’t win it’s an unsuccessful year! People just forget what good work has happened in these 10 months. Rightly, as the Indian cricket team, we are expected to win major trophies. We are one of the top teams in the world. We have to be good at it. It has been disappointing for sure."
Rohit replaced Virat Kohli as captain after he showed brilliant leadership skills in the Indian Premier League. He was expected to lead the team to win the ICC titles. Rohit led India to the WTC final 2023 and the 2022 T20 World Cup, but India couldn't win them. But with the coming World Cup taking place at home, India are the firm favorites.
