Rohit Sharma opens up on India's large selected pool of players for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is the only batter to hit five centuries in T20Is.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent century against Afghanistan in the final T20I game played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Rohit smashed his fifth T20I century and became the only person to do so. Rohit scored 121 runs in 69 balls and smashed 11 fours and eight sixes in his terrific knock.
Rohit Sharma’s knock came in when his place in T20I playing Xi came under question. Rohit made his comeback after a gap of 14 months in T20I cricket and made himself a certain choice in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. BCCI is looking at a 30 players pool for the big tournament. After Afghanistan series Rohit Sharma revealed the struggle of team management in managing a big pool of players.
Rohit Sharma gives clarity about the camp
Indian team management gave an opportunity to every single player available in Afghanistan series. Rohit Sharma said that the team management tried their best to keep the clarity among the players. He also added that he can not keep everyone happy as there are many options to look at. Team India are yet to decide on their final balance of the squad for the big ICC event.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said, “As far as Rahul bhai and I are concerned, we have tried our best to maintain the clarity within the team and communicate clearly to the player as to why they are dropped. You cannot keep everyone happy. This is something I have learned while captaining the team. You have to focus on the team’s goals first.”
Rohit Sharma also informed that he was following the team’s journey when he was away from T20I cricket before Afghanistan series. Rohit didn’t played a single T20I match after India’s semi-finals defeat England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Selectors will take a call on the final squad during the Indian Premier League as this will be the only opportunity to have a look at the selected pool of players.
