Tilak Varma dedicated celebration of his maiden fifty to Rohit Sharma’s daughter Samaira.

Team India are yet to win a game in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against the West Indies. In the first two matches, the West Indies rattled India in close games and took a 2-0 lead in the series. Despite these losses, there’s one positive that came out of this series, Tilak Varma being promoted in the Indian middle order. Tilak smashed his maiden international fifty in the second T20I at Providence Stadium and dedicated his celebration to Rohit Sharma’s daughter, Samaira. Now, Rohit Sharma has reacted to Tilak Varma’s magnificent innings.

Rohit ‘clapped’ for Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma’s Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma has reacted with an Instagram story and ‘clapped’ for his Indian Premier League teammate. Sharma posted an Instagram story with a picture of Tilak Varma celebrating his half-century. Rohit added clapping emojis.

Earlier, Varma revealed in a chat with BCCI.tv that his celebration was for Rohit’s daughter, Samaira. Tilak said, “It was towards Sammy (Samaira), Rohit Bhai’s daughter”. Tilak also revealed that he is very close to Samaira and promised her for this moment.

Tilak credited Rohit for his success

Rohit has a lot of faith in Tilak as a batter. Tilak has not disappointed him since he made his debut in the IPL 2023 for the Mumbai Indians. Tilak made the most of his opportunities and got the reward for his good work. Tilak credited Rohit Sharma for his success and said, “Rohit Sharma is a support system for me. He helps me to improve my game, he guides me on how to play international matches. I am more inspired by Rohit Sharma, he helps me learn a lot.” 

Tilak scored 51 runs in 41 balls against West Indies in the second game, with five fours and a six in his innings. He came in at No. 4 when India were under pressure after losing two wickets in just a span of four balls in the power play. He and captain Hardik Pandya (24) tried to stabilize the Indian innings but couldn’t help India score big. Tilak Verma scored 39 runs in his first international innings. He smashed 39 runs in 22 balls, announcing his arrival on the big stage.
