What is Rohit Sharma's record against England in ODIs?

Rohit Sharma has scored more than 11,000 runs in ODIs.

Rockstar! This word perfectly defines Rohit Sharma’s personality, who can be termed one of the best openers and captains to have played for the India Cricket Team across formats.

The right-handed batsman made his international debut in June 2007 in an ODI game against Ireland and after initial struggle, he turned himself into one of the best batters of his generation.

In his initial years, Rohit struggled to cement his place in the Indian Cricket Team. For instance, despite making his ODI debut in 2007, he could not get a place in India’s squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

However, his fortunes completely changed after the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, when he was promoted as an opener with Shikhar Dhawan by then captain MS Dhoni. The Men in Blue won the tournament and Rohit-Dhawan emerged as one of the best opening pairs in the white-ball formats. In the forthcoming years, they broke many batting records together.

Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, Rohit was the backbone of the side across formats. When Kohli left the captaincy in 2021, Rohit was picked as his successor. Initially, he took the reins of the T20I side but later became the all-format captain.

Under his captaincy, Sharma helped India to win ICC T20 World Cup 2024, ending side’s 11-year title drought. After the achievement, Rohit stepped down as the T20I captain.

The following year, Rohit also led the Men in Blue to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, thereby, earning two back-to-back ICC titles. A few months after the triumph, Rohit pulled down the curtains on his test career.

Currently, the 39-year-old is only active in the 50-over format and looking forward to representing India in the ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

The Indian opener owns a spectacular record in ODI cricket, having scored more than 11,000 runs in 277 innings. He has slammed 33 centuries and 62 half-centuries.
