Rohit Sharma set to retire from T20Is after T20 World Cup 2024 - Reports

Rohit Sharma will captain India for the second time in a T20 World Cup.
Rohit Sharma will be captaining the Indian team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be played in the USA and the West Indies from June 1-29. This is the first time USA will be hosting the tournament and also playing in the same.
However, if a report from Dainik Jagran is to be believed then the T20 World Cup could be Rohit Sharma’s final few outings in T20I cricket for India, as he is likely to retire from the format after the ICC event in the USA and West indies concludes, irrespective of whether India wins it or not.
Rohit Sharma is a bonafide legend of the white-ball game, who has aced his test career as well. In 151 T20Is, Rohit Sharma has 3974 runs at an average of 31.79 and a strike rate of 139.97. His highest score is 121* and he has the most centuries in the format, 5 along with 29 fifties. Rohit Sharma has also hit 190 fours and 60 sixes in the format.
Hardik Pandya seen as future India T20I captain by BCCI, the probable reason why Rohit Sharma may retire
The relationship between Rohit and Hardik at Mumbai Indians (MI) is not quite seamless. The decision to dismiss Rohit as captain and give Hardik leadership had more than its fair share of danger. Hardik’s return to MI in October last year, after leading Gujarat Titans to consecutive finals, was an all-cash transaction.
The true surprise came on December 15, when the five-time champions announced Pandya’s selection as captain, bringing Rohit’s 10-year reign to a sudden end. This has reportedly soured the relationship between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
As per Dainik Jagran’s report, despite their polite demeanor on the field, Rohit and Hardik do not agree. This was evident prior to MI’s away game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, when Hardik was not present during Rohit’s practice. After Rohit finished knocking and stood beside the ice box, Tilak and Suryakumar Yadav practiced their routine.
Meanwhile, the report also stated that Hardik’s inclusion in India’s 15-member squad was not due to his performance, but rather to the BCCI’s interest in the all-rounder as India’s future T20I captain, which prompted the selectors to not only select him for the T20 World Cup, but also to name him vice-captain.
