Rohit Sharma failed to convert his start with bat in 1st IND vs WI ODI.
India started their three-match ODI series against West Indies with a big win in Thiruvananthapuram. The first ODI was played at the Greenfield International Stadium, where India performed well with both bat and ball.
West Indies scored 295/7 in their 50 overs after batting first. Justin Greaves scored a century, while John Campbell and Amir Jangoo also made good contributions for the team.
India had no major trouble in the chase. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli scored centuries and helped India win the match by eight wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also bowled well and picked up four wickets.
With this win, India now lead the three-match series 1-0. The second ODI will be played in Guwahati on September 30, while the third match will take place in New Chandigarh on October 3.

After India’s win, a video of Rohit Sharma slipping while getting off the team bus went viral on social media.
The incident happened on the night of September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram when the Indian team was returning to the hotel after the match.
In the video, Rohit can be seen losing his balance on the bus stairs before falling to the ground. People and support staff near him quickly came forward and helped him get back up. Virat Kohli, who was standing nearby also got worried.

There has been no official update from the BCCI or Rohit about any injury after the incident.
Rohit Sharma returned to India’s ODI team for the West Indies series after around two months away from the format. His last ODI appearance before this series came against England on July 19, 2026.
His return has added more experience to India’s batting line-up, along with Virat Kohli, who also returned for the series. Rohit did not score big in the first ODI, but India still had a comfortable win against West Indies.
The second ODI will be played in Guwahati on September 30. With no injury officially reported after the fall, fans will be hoping to see Rohit back with the team for the next match.
