Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made their India comeback after seven months during the ODI series in Australia.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played a dominant role in Indian Cricket Team’s victory against Australian Cricket Team in third ODI of the three-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney on Saturday, October 25. The duo etched a partnership of an unbeaten 168 runs for the second wicket, taking the team home by nine wickets while chasing 237.
Rohit, who was replaced as ODI captain with Shubman Gill ahead of the series, was at his level best during the campaign. With his knocks of 73 and 121* in the second and third ODIs respectively, he ended up as the highest run-scorer of the series with 202 runs and was adjudged Player of the Series. The 38-year-old also surpassed Sourav Ganguly to become India’s third-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket during the second game in Adelaide.
On the other hand, Kohli had a dismal start to the series, getting dismissed for consecutive ducks in the first two games. However, he bounced back with an unbeaten 74 in the third game, where he overtook former Sri Lanka batter Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs.
Notably, Rohit and Kohli made a comeback to the national side after a seven-month break for the Australia series. Although they struggled in their comeback game in Perth, they concluded the series on a positive note in Sydney.
