Rohit Sharma announced his T20I retirement after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

India‘s ODI and test captain Rohit Sharma has given a warning to other teams for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, saying that he doesn’t “want to stop” winning trophies now that he ended India’s ICC trophy drought with the T20 World Cup 2024 title a couple of months ago.

Pakistan are the original hosts of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board have submitted the first draft schedule, in which the tournament will be played from February 19 to March 9. However, many media reports have claimed that India are unlikely to travel to Pakistan and India’s matches would be staged in either UAE or Sri Lanka.

There is a reason I won five IPL trophies: Rohit Sharma

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team reached three ICC finals across formats since 2023. The Indian side played the ICC World Test Championship and the ICC ODI World Cup final in 2023, both of which they lost to Australia, before going a step further to clinch the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), the 37-year-old Rohit is regarded as one of the finest IPL captains as he’s led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles.

During a recent event in Mumbai, Rohit said he would keep pushing the team to taste more success in the coming tournaments and series.

“There is a reason I won five IPL trophies. I’m not going to stop, because once you get the taste of winning games, winning Cups, you don’t want to stop and we’ll keep pushing as a team. We’ll keep striving for better things in the future,” Rohit Sharma said at the CEAT Cricket Awards in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Rohit also thanked former head coach Rahul Dravid, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and BCCI secretary Jay Shah for their support in his leadership and hailed them as the “three pillars” for his success in his captaincy tenure.
