'You will get the answer soon' Rohit Sharma's bold answer on his T20I future
Rohit Sharma is away from T20I since the semi-final loss against England in ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
Team India are still uncertain about their leader for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. The tournament is set to be played in June 2024 and team India are left with only 3 remaining international T20I games against Afghanistan ahead of the mega T20I event. Indian team management still looks uncertain about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in T20I format.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have not played a single T20I game after the semi-final loss against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Indian team management have tried 6 different captains in the T20I format. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future in the T20I format is the biggest question Indian fans are facing and BCCI is yet to answer with a clarity.
Rohit Sharma’s cheeky response
Ahead of the first test at Supersport park in Centurion, Rohit Sharma has responded to a question related to his T20I career in his unique style. Rohit was asked, whether he is desperate to win the T20 World Cup next year?, Rohit responded with a cheeky response and said, “Whatever opportunity we get , We try to win that. I know what answer you want. Surely you will get it soon.”
BCCI secretary Jay Shah was also asked about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future in T20I format earlier this month and he replied that there is still a lot of time left for the tournament. Jay Shah said, “What is the need to have clarity right now? It (T20 World Cup) is starting in June, we have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan.”
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also revealed that everyone in Indian camp are looking ahead of the upcoming challenge against South Africa. India will be commencing their 2-match test series against Proteas on Boxing Day. Rohit Sharma is also confident of his batting and said that he is batting as well as he could in the international format.
