4,6,6,6,4,6 [Watch] Romario Shepherd smashes Anrich Nortje for 32 runs in the final over

Romario Shepherd smashed 39 runs off 10 deliveries during his stay at the crease.

Romario Shepherd hammered the living daylights out of Anrich Nortje in the final over as Mumbai Indians (MI) clashed with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 20th match of the IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7, 2024.

Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals (DC) captain, won the toss and decided to bowl first. DC made two changes to the starting lineup: Jhye Richardson replaced Mitchell Marsh, who was injured, and Lalit Yadav replaced Rasikh Salam Dar.

The Mumbai Indians (MI), on the other hand, have made several alterations to their team. Suryakumar Yadav replaced Naman Dhir in the team. Romario Shepherd took over for Kwena Maphaka, while Mohammad Nabi replaced Dewald Brevis.

Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma gave the perfect start to the MI team, adding 80 runs in seven overs. Rohit Sharma scored 49 with three sixes and six fours before he was cleaned up by Axar Patel. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan continued the assault and made 42 in 23 balls with four fours and two sixes.

He was dismissed by Axar Patel as well, who took an excellent catch off his own bowling.

Delhi Capitals managed to bring the momentum back in their half with quick wickets of Suryakumar Yadav (0) and Tilak Varma (6). Even Hardik Pandya couldn’t do much, scoring 39 in 33 balls. All it came to Tim David and Romario Shepherd in the final few overs and they decimated Anrich Nortje.

David hit Nortje for 12 runs in the 18th over while hitting Ishant Sharma for a six and a four on the last two balls of the 19th over. He remained unbeaten on 45 in 21 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes.

However, the real carnage came in the final over bowled by Nortje, as Romario Shepherd got stuck into the bowler. He hit the South African pacer for 4,6,6,6,4,6 and took 32 runs in 6 balls. Shepherd made 39* in 10 balls with 4 sixes and 3 fours as MI posted 234/5 in 20 overs.
