India and the West Indies will continue their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign as they clash in a two-match test series. The first test of the series will begin on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The second test will be played from October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
West Indies skipper and all-rounder Roston Chase set a confident tone while addressing the media on the eve of the series.
Earlier this year, Roston Chase was named captain of the West Indies Test team. West Indies recently suffered a humiliating 0–3 home loss to Australia under his guidance, and they even collapsed for a pitiful 27 in the series finale.
Under his leadership, the West Indies will be looking to outperform an impressive Indian team on spin-friendly conditions.
“We are the underdogs”- Roston Chase on West Indies’ chances against India

The West Indies have not won a test against India in India since the 1994-95 series. They last won a test against India in 2002-03 at home, and India have dominated the once great Windies since then.
The West Indies have already lost two of their premier pacers in Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, to injuries, and Jason Holder declined to join the team for the test series. They will be heavily dependent on their spinners Chase, Jomel Warrican, and Khary Pierre.
West Indies captain Roston Chase characterized his squad as the “underdogs” having nothing to lose against a strong squad India during a pre-match press conference. West Indies is a dangerous team on this tour because of these factors, the great all-rounder continued.
“We are the underdogs. We have nothing to lose. That might make us a dangerous side,” as quoted by RevSportz.
Additionally, Roston Chase stated that all of his squad members already “know what to do” and that the West Indies team has not used any “special preparation” for the test series. The cricket player said that the surface is somewhat green, reflecting the pitch available at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
