"Every time he plays against West Indies.." Rovman Powell makes a funny comment after Phil Salt's 87* in ENG vs WI match at ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Phil Salt smashed 7 fours and 5 sixes against West Indies in their Super 8 encounter in St Lucia.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell made a hilarious comment about Phil Salt after the England opener blasted 87* (47) to take his side to an 8-wicket win in the ENG vs WI Super 8 match at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in St Lucia.

On a good batting pitch at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Salt bludgeoned a sensational knock as England gunned down the target of 181 runs in 17.3 overs. Salt blasted seven fours and five sixes in his innings, which included a 30-run over against medium-pacer Romario Shepherd.

The losing captain, Powell, pointed out that Salt is at his best when he plays against the West Indies. The stats do back Powell’s claim.

Against West Indies, Salt has scored 478 runs in nine innings at an average of 68 and a strike rate of 186 with two centuries and two half-centuries. More than half of Salt’s T20I career runs (844) have come against the Men In Maroon.

Powell admitted that the West Indies bowlers couldn’t execute their plans properly against Salt.

At the post-match presentation, Powell said, “Credit has to be given to Phil, he seems to like playing against West Indies. Every time he plays against West Indies, he always hurts us. We strayed away a little bit from our plans to Phil. It’s just for us to look back at those plans and re-evaluate.“

West Indies had won all their four matches in the group stage but went down against the defending champions. Their next Super 8 match is against the USA.
