RP Singh feels Mohammed Siraj will be affected by workload issues sooner or later.
Former India pacer RP Singh has urged Mohammed Siraj to be cautious about his workload in future. During the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Siraj featured in all five games for India and bowled more than 185 overs.
With 23 wickets in five games at an average of 32.43, he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the series. His commitment and never-say-die attitude on the field were appreciated by fans and the cricket fraternity.
Notably, senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah featured in three games out of five encounters during India’s tour of England 2025 to manage his workload. Siraj took the driver’s seat in Bumrah’s absence in the second and fifth tests, playing a crucial role in India’s victories in both games, picking five-wicket hauls.
Mohammed Siraj needs to be cautious about workload management issues- RP Singh
During a conversation with the Times of India, cricketer-turned-commentator RP Singh said that Siraj and Bumrah are assets for the Indian Cricket Team. Hence, their workload needs to be monitored. He also feels that Siraj will be affected by workload issues in future and should be cautious.
“Currently his body is fit and he is bowling well, but Siraj too needs to be cautious. Workload management issues will affect him too, sooner or later. Jasprit Bumrah has suffered because of his unique bowling action,” he said.
“Both he and Siraj are our assets and their workload needs to be monitored. However, the workload management should be in domestic cricket, not international cricket,” he added.
The 39-year-old heaped praise on Arshdeep Singh and said that the left-arm pacer will get his opportunities in test cricket soon. Arshdeep did not play any games during the England tour and is yet to make his test debut.
“For sure, 100% Arshdeep has to be given a chance. He’s a great bowler. He can swing the ball both ways, and he has developed his pace as well. I’m sure at some point he’s going to be part of the XI. Sooner or later, Arshdeep will get his chance,” he further said.
Meanwhile, the five-match test series between England and India ended in a 2-2 draw after Shubman Gill & Co. made a fabulous comeback to win the fifth test at The Oval, London. India’s next campaign is Asia Cup 2025, which will commence on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
