"He's the best leg-spinner.." RR teammate hails Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

Yuzvendra Chahal is just one wicket away from becoming the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been one of the reasons why Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been so successful in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The leg-spinner, who is the all-time highest wicket-taker in IPL history, has 12 wickets in the ongoing tournament.

He was the Purple Cap holder for the most wickets until he was surpassed by Jasprit Bumrah recently. Chahal has been consistent in the IPL over the years, being one of the leading wicket-takers across IPL editions. He is also just one wicket away from being the first player to pick 200 IPL wickets.

Chahal was also the go-to wrist spinner for India until the last 2-3 years but has been overtaken by his good friend Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian team. He last played for India on the tour of West Indies last year. He didn’t make it into India squads for Asia Cup 2023 or the ICC World Cup 2023.

Keshav Maharaj hails Yuzvendra Chahal as the best white-ball leg spinner in the world

Rajasthan Royals spinner Keshav Maharaj believes Yuzvendra Chahal is the best leg-spinner in the white-ball game. The Proteas star’s comments come ahead of the highly anticipated RR vs MI match on Monday.  

The RR spinner’s praise for Chahal comes ahead of the T20 World Cup, where Chahal is a strong contender to make India’s squad.

“Ravi Ashwin and Yuzi bhai are two of the best spinners. It’s a great learning for me to play with them, I also love Test cricket so picking brains from Ash. Yuzi is the best leggie in white ball cricket currently,” Keshav Maharaj said.

Chahal has played 152 games in the IPL and has 199 wickets to his name at an economy of 7.70. His best bowling figures are 5/40 and he also has a hat-trick to his name in the IPL.
