Ruturaj Gaikwad jumps 13 places, enters top 10 in ICC men's T20I batters rankings

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav are only two Indian batters ranked in the top 10.

Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has jumped 13 places to enter top 10 of the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings, updated on July 9.

Ruturaj was not part of India’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad, but he returned to the side for ongoing five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Before this, he played in five-match home T20I series against Australia in November, 2023. He hit a hundred and a fifty in that series last year.

In the opening game of the ongoing series against Zimbabwe, right-handed batter Ruturaj scored seven runs off nine balls on July 6. In the second T20I match on July 7, the 27-year-old Gaikwad stormed back in style and smashed unbeaten 77 runs off 47 deliveries, including 11 boundaries and one six, which helped him boost his spot in the latest ICC men’s T20I rankings for batters.

Gaikwad currently sits at seventh place with 662 rating points. Amongst Indians, Suryakumar Yadav is another batter in the top 10, who is ranked second with 821 rating points in the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings. With Suryakumar being rested for the ongoing Zimbabwe T20I series, Gaikwad has a superb chance to jump more spots in the T20I batting rankings.

Hardik Pandya slips down to second spot in the ICC men’s T20I rankings for all-rounders.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who held the top spot jointly with Wanindu Hasaranga for men’s T20I all-rounders after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, has now slipped down to the second position.

Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga solely holds the No. 1 position amongst men’s T20I all-rounders with 222 rating points.

Meanwhile, another Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is placed 12th in the latest ICC men’s T20I rankings for all-rounders, updated by the ICC on July 9.
