Ruturaj Gaikwad and Prithvi Shaw to play together as Maharashtra announce squad for the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Prithvi Shaw will play together for the first time for Maharashtra.
Indian cricketers Prithvi Shaw and Ruturaj Gaikwad are set to play together for Maharashtra in the upcoming Buchi Babu Trophy 2025. Both the young batters have been named in the Maharashtra squad for the tournament.
All India Buchi Babu Invitational Cricket Tournament 2025, which will be hosted by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), will commence on August 18 and conclude on September 9.
Sixteen teams are part of the tournament this season. The matches will be held at different venues in Chennai. The winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh while the runners-up will get Rs. 2 lakh.

Prithvi Shaw joined Maharashtra ahead of 2025-26 domestic season
Notably, Shaw recently joined the Maharashtra team in the domestic circuit after parting ways with his former team, Mumbai. He will make his debut for Maharashtra in the tournament and will be playing under the leadership of Ankit Bawane in the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025.

Ankit Bawane (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prithvi Shaw, Siddhesh Veer, Sachin Dhas, Arshin Kulkarni, Harshal Kate, Siddharth Mhatre, Saurabh Nawale (wk), Mandar Bhandari (wk), Ramakrishna Ghosh, Mukesh Choudhary, Pradeep Dadhe, Vicky Ostwal, Hitesh Walunj, Prashant Solanki, Rajvardhan Hangargekar.
Notably, Gaikwad and Saurabh Nawale will only play in the first match of the tournament. Later, they will participate in the Duleep Trophy 2025-26. Both are part of the West Zone team in the domestic tournament, which will commence on August 28.
Meanwhile, the 16 teams part of Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 are- TNCA President’s XI, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Railways, Jammu & Kashmir, Baroda, Odisha, TNCA XI, Mumbai, Haryana, Bengal, Hyderabad, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand.
All these teams are divided into four groups (A, B, C, D) of four teams each. Each team will face other members of their group during the tournament. The top four teams of each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The winners of the semis will clash in the final.
