S. Sreesanth didn't take Shoaib Akhtar's controversial tweet lightly and had a go at him.

Former India pacer S.Sreesanth took a shot at Shoaib Akhtar after the latter was found teasing Sachin Tendulkar on X (formerly Twitter). The ex-Pakistan speedster, who is quite popular on social media due to his tongue-and-cheek comments, was in the limelight yet again.

Ahead of India's much-anticipated match against Pakistan in Ahmedabad, Akhtar posted a picture of him celebrating in front of a packed crowd at the Eden Gardens after dismissing Sachin Tendulkar for a duck in 1999. He captioned the picture, stating, "Kal agar asa kuch kerna hai, toh #ThandRakh (If you want to do something similar to this tomorrow, then keep calm)."

The jibe backfired as Pakistan went on to lose the clash against India. The hosts thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan by 7 wickets and continued their unbeaten streak of beating the neighbouring nation in the 50-overs World Cup.

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar cashed in on the opportunity and gave a thrilling reply to Akhtar's dig. He responded to Akhtar's tweet by tweeting: "My friend, aap ka advice follow kiya aur sab kuch billlkoool THANDA rakha.šŸ˜‹ (My friend, I followed your advice and kept everythingcool.l)"

Sreesanth backed Tendulkar and fired shots at Akhtar for his tweet. Sreesanth claimed that on certain occasions, Tendulkar played Akhtar like a spinner. Sreesanth, part of the 2011 World Cup winning team, also stated that he is a fan of Akhtar but won't shy away from having a go at him if the former Pakistan cricketer takes a dig at Tendulkar.

Last year, Sreesanth announced his retirement from international cricket. Tendulkar had reserved a special message for the pacer. He took to social media and stated that he has always rated Sreesanth as a talented bowler with a lot of skills. Sreesanth donned Indian Test jersey on 27 occasions and played 53 ODIs, apart from featuring in 10 T20Is.
