SA20 2027: Pre-Auction squads of all teams

The preparation for the fifth season of the SA20 is in full swing. The SA20 2027 is all set to kick off from January 17, 2027. The three-time champion, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, will defend their title in the coming season.

The SA20 auction is scheduled to take place on October 7, 2026, which will give all six franchises a chance to rearrange their pack and fill the necessary spots in the team. All franchises have announced their player retentions and pre-auction signings.

Durban Super Giants and Paarl Royals are two teams who have not made much changes to their squad. Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, are the teams, who will be in action during the auction.

SA20 2027: Faf du Plessis and Keiron Pollard among big names to get released

There were some big names who got released by the team. Joburg Super Kings made a shocking decision as they released their captain, Faf du Plessis, which surprised many. Du Plessis led them in four seasons, and is the leading run-scorer for them in the tournament.

On the other hand, MI Cape Town also released Kieron Pollard, and the long association of Pollard and the MI family in SA20 ended with this decision. Trent Boult, Jonny Bairstow, Will Smeed, Shai Hope, and Rassie van der Dussen were other big names who were released.

SA20 2027: Pre-auction signings and Marquee picks

The biggest news was the pre-auction signing of Australian T20I captain Mitchell Marsh. The defending champion, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, have signed Marsh for the SA20 2027. Joe Root, who played for Pretoria Capitals, will back for the coming season with the franchise. Sam Curran, Jason Holder, and Phil Salt are the other key names for the coming season.
