Sachin Tendulkar gives advice to Indian cricketers regarding domestic cricket
Sachin Tendulkar shared a long post on X and asked players to play in domestic cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced annual central contracts last Wednesday. They took some harsh calls, as the board snubbed big names like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the list due to their continuous negligence towards Indian domestic tournaments. The BCCI has also categorically stated that players should give preference to Indian domestic tournaments.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s snubbing became a big news in Indian cricket. Now, former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar has shared a long post on his X account and indirectly reminded all the players to give importance to Indian domestic tournaments. Tendulkar shared that the involvement of big players increases the quality of the tournaments.
Sachin bats for Ranji Trophy
Sachin Tendulkar also hailed the Ranji Trophy 2024 semi-final games. Sachin posted, “The Ranji Trophy semi-finals have been riveting! Mumbai Cricket Association’s march into the finals was aided by a brilliant batting recovery, while the other semi-final hangs in the balance going into the last day – Madhya Pradesh need 90+ runs to win, Vidarbha need 4 wickets.”
Sachin further added that when Indian players play for their domestic teams, it raises the quality of play. The legend stated, “When India players turn up for their domestic teams, it raises the quality of play for youngsters and sometimes new talent is identified. It also gives the national players a chance to sometimes rediscover the basics..”
He also believes that the participation of big names will bring back the fans’ interest in domestic cricket. Tendulkar posted on X, “With top notch players participating in domestic tournaments, over a period of time, fans will also start following and supporting their domestic teams much more. Wonderful to see BCCI give equal priority to domestic cricket.”
