Sadeera Samarawickrama roared in delight after Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the 3rd ODI.

Sri Lankan cricketer Sadeera Samarawickrama gave a fiery send-off to Indian star batter Virat Kohli during the third match of the three-match ODI series at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 7.

The incident happened during the 11th over of India’s innings. On the fifth delivery of the 11th over, Kohli was outfoxed by left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage, and the Indian batter was adjudged LBW. The 35-year-old Kohli played for the turn, but the ball went straight and hit his pads.

The on-field umpire took no time in raising his finger. Although Kohli challenged the decision by taking a DRS, it was to no avail as he was plumb lbw. The replay showed that Kohli’s bat was far away from his pad and he was rapped on the front leg.

The HawkEye projected the ball to be crashing into the stumps and the Indian batter walked back after scoring 20 runs in 18 balls, including four boundaries.

When the on-field umpire had raised his finger to adjudge Kohli lbw, Sri Lankan player Sadeera Samarawickrama, pumped up with the dismissal, roared in delight in the direction of Kohli.

Sri Lanka won their first bilateral ODI series against India since 1997

Hosts Sri Lanka stunned the Indian cricket team by crushing them in the final match by 110 runs in the three-match ODI series in Colombo and consequently sealed the series. The Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka won their first bilateral ODI series against India since 1997.

Throughout the series, the Indian batters struggled against the quality spin-bowling attack of Sri Lanka. The visitors lost 27 wickets out of 30, which was the most by any team in an ODI bilateral series (maximum of three matches).
