Sai Sudharsan is part of India squad for the England test series.
Indian Cricket Team cricketer Sai Sudharsan is all set to start a new chapter in his career during the upcoming India’s tour of England 2025. The left-handed batsman has earned a test call-up for the first time and is also expected to make his debut during the England vs India series.
England will host the Indian Cricket Team in a five-test series. The opening game will begin on June 20 at Headingley in Leeds. The series will conclude with the fifth test at Kennington Oval in London, scheduled to be played from July 31 to August 4.
Shubman Gill is the new skipper of the Indian Cricket Team in the red-ball format. He is the successor of Rohit Sharma, who announced his retirement from test cricket last month. Virat Kohli has also retired from the longest format, and hence, the team will miss the services of two crucial batters during the England tour.
Sai Sudharsan congratulated Virat Kohli after IPL 2025 victory
During an interview with The Times of India, Sai Sudharsan said that he congratulated Kohli for winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 trophy. He also revealed two things that he admires about the Indian batting legend.
“I congratulated him after the final as it was a really special moment for him. But we’ve had many conversations over the years. What I’ve always admired about him is his mentality and the dedication he has for the game. We’ve talked about how he handled the situation when he wasn’t scoring runs,” he said.
Notably, Sai Sudharsan won the Orange Cap in IPL 2025 with 759 runs in 15 games. He was part of the Gujarat Titans (GT), which is captained by Shubman Gill. Both Gill and Sudharsan opened the batting for GT during the tournament and were highly successful. Sudharsan heaped rich praise on his GT teammate as well for his mindset and self-belief.
“The most important factor is his mindset and self-belief, along with the confidence he has in his own abilities. I’ve observed how he handles himself during tough times. Additionally, there are technical aspects that also play a significant role,” the 23-year-old said.
Meanwhile, Sudharsan has only played three ODIs and one T20I so far for India. However, he owns wonderful stats in first-class cricket. The left-handed batter has mustered 1957 runs in 29 games with seven centuries and five half-centuries for Tamil Nadu. He owns an average of around 40. The batter also has a county ton to his name as well as a century in Australia for the India A side.
