Sai Sudharsan became 317th player to represent India in test cricket.
The India Cricket Team and the England Cricket Team are clashing with each other in the first test of India’s tour of England 2025 at Headingley, Leeds. The home captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first, in what is a bright sunny day.
For India, Sai Sudharsan made his test debut during the match. The left-handed batsman became the 317th player to represent the nation in the longest format of the game. Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored truckloads of runs at three for nation, gave him the cap ahead of the start of the match.
Sudharsan has played three ODIs and one T20I for India so far after making his debut in December 2023 against South Africa in ODIs. The left-handed batsman has slammed 127 runs in three ODI games, including two half-centuries so far. Now, he is set to bat at the three for India in the ongoing first test against England.

Meanwhile, Karun Nair, who made a return to the test team after eight years, was also picked in India’s playing XI. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul are the openers, while skipper Shubman Gill has grabbed the crucial number four batting slot.
Meanwhile, India and England will play a total of five test matches during the series. The series will conclude with the final test at The Kia Oval in London, scheduled to start from 31st July. The England vs India series will be played for the newly inaugurated Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
