“Sometimes when you get injured…”- Sai Sudharsan provides update on Rishabh Pant’s fitness ahead of India A vs South Africa A series

Rishabh Pant will captain India A in the unofficial test series against South Africa A.
Indian Cricket Team batter Sai Sudharsan provided an update about Rishabh Pant as both the batters gear up for the unofficial test series against South Africa A. He said that the keeper-batter looks fitter than ever and is ready for the challenge.
India A are all set to host South Africa A in a two-match unofficial series ahead of the main series between the teams. The unofficial series kicks starts from 30th October and it will be a great opportunity for young guns to make their case strong for the national selection.
Rishabh Pant will be leading India A in the series and it will mark his comeback to the game after a long injury hiatus. The vice-captain of the Indian test team got injured during the fourth test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 and since then has been out of action.
He missed Asia Cup 2025, home tests against the West Indies and also the ongoing Australia tour. But, with the South Africa test series around the corner, he will have a great opportunity to get his rhythm back and score runs to regain his confidence.

Sai Sudharsan, who is the vice-captain of the India A team, gave an update on Rishabh Pant and also revealed how the captain addressed the players ahead of the training session. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Rishabh looks fantastic, actually, may be fitter I would say. He had some time to build, put that training in his legs because sometimes when you get injured you have that specific time to work on whatever you want. I feel he looks a bit more fit and strong and as courageous as always he is.
“The message from Pant is very clear. We were in a huddle on the first day of training and he was saying that this is a great opportunity for everybody to again get the rhythm of the game. At the same time, we are also playing to win and that is the main thing.”
Sudharsan also highlighted the importance of India A games, adding that it is a big opportunity for the players to build up for the national assignments. He elaborated:
“India A matches are very important and we are lucky enough to have it just before the main series so that we take this as a big opportunity and build up really well and understand the conditions and obviously, plan accordingly for the series.”
Sai Sudharsan is also expected to he part of the Indian team for the test series against South Africa. He has been given the opportunity to bat at the three in the last two series and is expected to get the same in the next one as well. The A series will be important for him as well as he eyes to seal the number three slot in the team.
