Samit Dravid recently received his maiden call-up to the India under-19 squad.
18-year-old Samit Dravid, the son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, has caught the attention of the fans after being named in India’s under-19 squads to face Australia under-19 in the multi-format home series in September and October.
In recent times, fans have shown keen interest in Samit since he rose in the ranks in junior cricket, not least because of being the son of Rahul Dravid.
India under-19 will host Australia under-19 for three 50-over matches in Puducherry on September 21, 23 and 26. It will be followed by two four-day games in Chennai, starting September 30 and October 7.
Is Samit Dravid a batsman or a bowler?
Rahul Dravid’s son Samit is an all-rounder. He produced impressive all-round performances in the Cooch Behar Trophy. However, he has been used only as a batsman in the Maharaja T20 Trophy by Mysuru Warriors.
Samit Dravid’s stats:
In the Cooch Behar Trophy, which is a four-day format tournament for under-19 cricketers in India, Samit helped Karnataka win the title by scoring 362 runs and taking 16 wickets in eight matches. He snared two wickets in the final against Mumbai.
But, in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, which is his first senior men’s T20 competition, Samit has failed to deliver the goods, scoring 82 runs in seven knocks at a strike rate of 114.
Samit will have a chance to showcase his talent and skill against Australia under-19 and make a case for selection in Karnataka’s senior team for the domestic season 2024-25.
