Rajkot stadium, earlier used to be known as SCA stadium, to be renamed as Niranjan Shah Stadium.

In a heartfelt tribute to a man whose dedication and commitment to the sport of cricket have been unwavering for decades, Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) announced the renaming of its stadium to 'Niranjan Shah Stadium.' The decision was unanimously approved during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association, acknowledging Mr. Niranjan Shah's outstanding contribution as an administrator for Saurashtra Cricket.

The decision to re-name the stadium is a fitting tribute to a man who has played an instrumental role in shaping the cricketing landscape of Saurashtra. Niranjan Shah's journey in cricket administration is a testament to his relentless passion and love for the game. He has tirelessly worked behind the scenes to nurture and promote cricket in the region.

The newly christened 'Niranjan Shah Stadium' situated in Rajkot, Gujarat, has witnessed numerous games ever since the stadium was opened in 2013. The decision to rename this venue, for which he had played a pivotal role in its establishment, not only recognizes Mr. Shah's achievements but also pays homage to his tireless efforts in advancing cricket in Saurashtra.

Niranjan Shah's journey in cricket administration began in the early 1980s, when he took up various roles within the SCA. Over the years, he steadily climbed the ranks, earning respect and admiration for his commitment to the sport. His vision and strategic acumen have played a pivotal role in the development of infrastructure and facilities and the overall growth of cricket in this region of India.

One of his most significant achievements as an administrator was steering Saurashtra cricket to greater heights. Under his leadership, Saurashtra's cricket team achieved remarkable success, including winning the prestigious Ranji Trophy in the 2019–2020 and 2022–23 seasons. These triumphs were a crowning moment for Saurashtra cricket, and Niranjan Shah's vision and support were crucial in achieving this historic feat.

Beyond Saurashtra, Niranjan Shah also made significant contributions at the national level. He served as the Honorary Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and was a key figure in various BCCI committees. His extensive experience and knowledge were invaluable in shaping Indian cricket's policies and strategies.

The 79-year-old currently serves as an honorary secretary of Saurashtra Cricket Association.
