Shaheen Afridi removed Andrew Balbirnie for a golden duck during PAK vs IRE clash on June 16.
Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a stunning inswinger that dismantled Ireland opener Andrew Balbirnie’s stumps during the Group A match at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on June 16 in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
After winning the toss and opting to field first, Pakistan bowlers had a dream start as they blew away Ireland’s batting line-up into pieces.
On the very first over of the Irish innings, left-arm pacer Shaheen removed two batters and gave his side a perfect start. Men in Green skipper Babar Azam introduced Mohammad Amir to bowl the second over of the match. Amir didn’t disappoint his skipper, as he removed Ireland captain Paul Stirling for just one run.
Shaheen once again removed batter Harry Tector as Ireland slumped to 15-4 after the end of three overs. Veteran pacer Mohammad Amir came into the attack to bowl the sixth over of the match. He removed George Dockrell for 11 runs as Ireland reached 32-5 after the first powerplay.
Shaheen Afridi uproots Andrew Balbirnie’s stumps with a dream delivery
The incident happened during the first over of Ireland’s innings, when Irish opener Andrew was batting against Men in Green star pacer Shaheen.
On the third ball of the over, Shaheen bowled a perfect inswinger, which castled Balbirnie’s stumps. The pacer bowled a lovely-length delivery, slightly pitched up.
The Irish opener was looking for a booming drive but the ball curl in sharply, which left a gap between the pad and the bat of Balbirnie. The ball sneaked through it and shatters the stumps. The Irish opener departed after scoring a golden duck.
